A Heart of Gold with Jenny Muscatell

Good morning friends!!! You are all in for a treat.. this next guest, does not need a lot of introduction, she is a heart mom, and the co-founder of The Heart Community Collection... please give a warm welcome and get to know the lovely and kindest person I know.. Jenny Muscatell...

WOG: Hello and thank you for being here, how are you today Jenny?

Jenny: I am doing wonderful, thank you so much for having me today.

WOG: I know you are doing a lot now for God and His work, but has it always been this way for you as a kid growing up?

Jenny: I believe that God put in me a heart of service from a very young age, however I did not become a Christian until I was nineteen. I was exposed a little to church in my early years. I lived in a small town where there were no church buses to drive them back and forth each Sunday. I was one of them. And though I didn’t understand all I would read or hear until I got older, I have very fond memories of those no no church buses to bring children back and forth to Sunday School, but the pastor 's wife herself would pick up a few kid at a times. She, along with her husband, the pastor, would model love, kindness, and service to others. My parents were also kind people who often helped others as they were able, even though they themselves had very little. I guess that stuck with me. Regarding my faith: When I was nineteen, I became pregnant. I grew to know Jesus and was saved about two months before my daughter was born. The timing was no accident. At the time, I had no idea my daughter would be born with a complex congenital heart disease, or that we were about to face a life-long medical journey, or that I would find myself needing to seek God in prayer every day since that moment. But God knew, and it was my faith in God that carried me through, and what keeps me going still today.

WOG: Please tell us more about why you wrote your book?

Jenny: God called me to begin capturing my faith-walk journey in 1996. For years I felt the Holy Spirit prompting me to write a book, and as I continued to write, the story continued to unfold. My book, The journey of Faith and an Open Heart, is a memoir that details my experience as a mom raising a child who has undergone eight major open-heart surgeries. It also details the death of my husband and what it was like to become a widow at the age of 36. It was important to me to share my testimony so as to live out the truth taught in Revelation 12:11 - “And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony.”

When we share how God has worked things out in our lives, those stories bring hope to others.

WOG: To you, what is the rewarding part of being a mother to a heart warrior?

Jenny: There are so many rewarding moments. Children are such an incredible gift. I look at my daughter and am wowed by her bravery. I melt when I see how giving and kind she is to others. I take joy in all the little moments that I will never take for granted. I am impressed by her determination. I am also humbled to bear witness to the miracles God has performed in her life. I see all of these wonderful qualities in you too, Lisa and appreciate your gracious heart.

WOG: Lastly, can you tell me why you decided to become one of the co-founders of the heart community collection website?

Jenny: My daughter was diagnosed with a heart condition during a time when resources were beyond limited. We didn’t know many other parents or children with CHD. In fact, for many years, we only knew one. There were no online support groups or forums where we could ask questions. It was our medical team and us. That was it. After meeting the other co-founders, Anna Jaworski and Amy M. Le, it was clear we all shared the same heart to want to help others have the resources we ourselves never had. Since that

time, THCC has grown into a community full of incredible people who have a heart for others. It is full of people who have walked a hard road and want nothing more than to make that journey easier for someone else who may be experiencing it. The members of THCC inspire me every day and I feel so blessed to know each one of them.
