Hello Friends and thanks for coming back... today I want to introduce you to a wonderful heart warrior who recently decided to be more involved with the heart community, and share her story and help spread CHD awareness and reach others. Please give a warm welcome to Hannah Dillion.... and let's see what she has to tell us about her faith, her chd journey and about motherhood!!!
WOG: Hi, Hannah, I am so glad you are here...how are you doing? H.D: Hi Lisa, I am doing very well thank you for asking! WOG: Can you please tell us the types of CHD defects you have?
H.D: I was born with Tricuspid Atresia, ASD, and VSD. WOG: Did you have an easy birth with your daughter, due to your CHD? H.D: The birth of my daughter was not easy. I was doing ok up until 28 weeks and I ended up in the hospital for a whole month because I went to preterm labor. I was in for a whole month then finally they said they'll be sending me home because there was nothing more they could do since they stopped labor. They also told me I would get 3-4 weeks at home and I got exactly 3 weeks before I ended up in the hospital again and delivered Hazel 6 weeks early because I ended up getting preeclampsia. Hazel stayed in NICU for 17 days while I stayed in the ICU for 5 days then they finally released me and a few days being with Hazel in NICU I started to feel really unwell and actually that week I had a follow up with my baby Doctor and I took my socks off and they were the size of elephants and I couldn't walk and my stomach was big I kept falling asleep whenever I went to. My doctor readmitted me into the hospital and it turned out I got what's called postpartum preeclampsia which means I gained a lot of fluid throughout my body, I started to go into heart failure from all the fluid around my heart. I stayed for another week. They put me on Lasix and I lost 45lbs in 24 hours. My experience was very scary. Not only did I think I was going to lose my daughter I thought I was going to die as well. But I'm extremely thankful to have my daughter here today and who is very heart healthy and is thriving each and everyday.
WOG: Do you live with strong faith?
H.D: I was born and raised Catholic. I go to church every Sunday. I believe that God puts not only myself but others on this earth for a reason. Even though I was born with a CHD I am always going to be in good faith and pray daily because I know God will always be right by my side through anything I go through.
WOG: If you could visit one place in the world and tell your story where would it be and why?
H.D: My dream place to visit is Ireland because that is where my dad is from and I'd love to experience the adventure. Thank you so much, for having me. WOG: Thank you for this lovely chat, Hannah, and thank you all for being here with us. May God Bless you
