Storytelling with Len Tran

Good Morning friends, today I have a special guest that I had a wonderful chat with and he is an amazing person, and his work is inspiring. He also holds a Bachelor Engineering degree in Chemical Engineering, and now has open his YouTube Channel on helping others to self awaken. He was born in Vietnam and made his way here in a boat during the Vietnam War. Let's see what Len has to tell us about his profound journey... of faith, hard work and never giving up..

WOG: Good morning Len, thank you for being here. Let's start with, did you write a lot as a kid or teen years? L.T: As a kid, I didn't like writing at all. Coming to America, I was living in the countryside of Vietnam where we were very poor and didn't have the education that I always wanted. I was only in second grade and primarily I was good with math because my grandfather would make me recite the multiplication table every day to him. After leaving Vietnam, I was in America with my father and since he was busy working, I was at home alone and spent most of my time outside at the playground or speaking primarily Vietnamese. WOG: How do you feel after your story was told to the world?

L.T. It feels great to share my story after living in America for the last 40 years. Growing up, I always got asked by friends to one day have my story written. When I first heard of the suggestion, I chuckled a bit because I knew writing was never what I was good at. You can give me math problems to solve, but I just couldn't sit still for a few hours to write. However, three years ago when I decided to write, I discovered my potential. It's one of those things that you don't know your capabilities until you give it a try. I am glad that I wrote Split Up by the Sea. It was both satisfying to be an author as well as being able to allow my story to be out there where I am sure someone can relate or went through the difficulties that I had. WOG: Congratulations on your next book, can you tell us a little about it? L.T: Three years ago, my intention was to write an inspirational book, but instead I ended up veering to a memoir. However, I was glad to find the time and went back to complete what I started. Throughout my life, I faced many struggles, but mainly they were within. I am sure many of us are going through self doubts and therefore, this book, Break the Bricks, is going to show you ways and a formula to overcome fear to find your true potential. WOG: Please tell us more about your new youtube channel and what made you start it? L.T.: I started my YouTube channel a month ago during my elbow rehabilitation. I have always wanted to start this channel for a long time, but being busy with work and writing, I postponed it. Now that the channel is up and running, I am hoping that one day I can build a sufficient amount of subscribers to help support my channel. The channel is about how to find your zen in order to fuel your life. I believe in zen to be the most fundamental part of all beings. Zen has helped me to maintain composure during adversity. It is easy for us to be reactive to situations, but Zen is a philosophy to tell us to think twice, take a breath, before we act. WOG: If you could go back to the first time you sat down to write your first book and change something, what would it be and why? L.T.: I wouldn't change a thing. I always believe that the universe put you on this earth for a reason. Likewise, I believe that we went through obstacles for a reason as well. For all those obstacles, pain, and tears, I embrace them all as they were my teachers to be a better person. The stories that I shared were true and memorable and if anything, I should have told more, but don't want the book to be too thick. WOG: Last, what would you tell someone who wants to tell their story, but can't find the time? L.T.: We all have 24 hours in a day. Whether you are a busy person or not, you need to know what is important to you. Once you find the order of importance, go with the one that you need to get done first. I see so many people procrastinate in life, but as we all know, procrastination is an excuse to get you out of accomplishing your goals. There will always be time if you want it badly enough. In my book, Break the Bricks, I detailed how to manage your time and get things done.

Well that is all everyone, and I hope you had a wonderful reading and getting to know Len. Here are the links to his books:
